Inquiry post week 1

For my free inquiry project I decided I wanted to learn one of my favourite songs on the guitar. I have zero experience and haven’t touched any musical instrument since I was in elementary school. I’ve been surrounded by music growing up and have always been so impressed by other people who can play the guitar so I thought why don’t I learn it myself. My end goal would be to be able to play the entirety of the song Shake the Frost, by Tyler Childers. This song and the artist are one of my favourites, this song in particular is one that holds a great amount of sentimental value for me so being able to play it through would be a huge accomplishment. I also hope that this will be a bridge into music for me and I will continue to play afterwards and bring it into my classroom in the future. Music is such an important part of life and especially the life of children. I still remember songs I learned in elementary school. This week I did a lot of preparing for my success. I found a very helpful video on youtube on how to play the song and from this video I drew out the cords and the steps to actually play the intro to the song. As a visual learning the video and the drawn out chords help me understand what I am doing. I also ordered supplies to properly execute the song, including a guitar capo and picks. For net week I am going to start on learning the chords and the intro !
